Our Programs
Evergreen Roots & Wings offers two thoughtfully designed programs to support homeschool families through creativity, academic guidance, and meaningful connection.

Creative Enrichment Program
Location: First United Methodist Church of Port Orange
Schedule: Wednesdays | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Evergreen Roots & Wings is a creative homeschool enrichment program designed to support the whole child through art, writing, science, photography, storytelling, mindfulness, and project-based learning. The program serves students in grades K–8 and provides a small, nurturing environment where children feel supported, inspired, and encouraged to explore their ideas.
This is a drop-off style program, offering students the opportunity to work independently while also building meaningful friendships and a strong sense of community with their peers.
Students are thoughtfully grouped by age and grade, and all activities are tailored to be developmentally appropriate for each group.

Core Learning Areas

Creative Arts

Students explore a variety of artistic mediums and techniques, including drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, and collaborative art projects. Emphasis is placed on creative expression, process-based learning, and building confidence.
Students develop and maintain an artist portfolio to properly store and care for their work while also tracking their creative growth over time.
Students also work consistently in personal sketchbooks, learning that just as scientists experiment in a lab, artists experiment in their sketchbooks. This practice builds consistency, skill development, and creative confidence.
Writing & Storytelling

Students develop communication and literacy skills through creative writing, journaling, poetry, and book creation, allowing them to express ideas and develop their unique voice.
Photography & Visual Storytelling

Students explore photography and visual storytelling, learning composition, photo journaling, and introductory video storytelling to document and share their experiences creatively.
Science Exploration

Students engage in hands-on science activities and projects that encourage curiosity, observation, and discovery through experiments, nature-based exploration, and inquiry.
Project-Based Learning

Students participate in interdisciplinary projects integrating art, writing, science, and media, promoting collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world application.
Mindfulness & Social-Emotional Learning

Daily practices support emotional awareness, self-regulation, and connection through reflection, group sharing, and mindfulness activities.
